Durmin Entsorgung und Logistik

Water treatment plant for railway ballast washing
Main requirements:

  • Large semi-mobile plant in an existing factory shed (only 12m high) without removal of the roof, resulting in a complex site logistics and assembly with unconventional lifting equipment
  • Containerized plant with the exception of the silos
  • Filterpress in special engineered modules to better manage plant mobility and maintenance
  • Plant installed in a dusty atmosphere with temperature peaks over 40°C
  • Highly engineered piping in order to optimize routing and pressure drops
  • Balancing of the plant with very reduced buffer volumes
  • The installation of the plant in Nuremberg harbour, in close proximity to the Danube, required a particular attention to the recovery of water in closed cycle to avoid any spills in the river

Plant details

Factory shed assembly

In just 12m in height, a plant able to manage 390m3/h was installed without removal of the roof and with unconventional lifting equipment.

Containerized modules

With the exception of silos, the plant is fully modular and containerized, allowing the semi-mobility in case of need.

Sludge cakes with high dry matter content

The process, which ends with an engineered filterpress module, has been optimized in order to obtain perfectly dewatered cakes (80% of dry matter)

Problem solving by 3D design

The plant layout and the piping have been 3D-designed in order to eliminate all critical issues for mechanical, hydraulic, logistic and assembly.
