Logic:
Automated “Top-Down” management
LEM is Tecnoidea’s control system for monitoring the sludge–water interface inside the vertical static clarifier.
By tracking the position of the sludge–water interface inside the silo in real time, LEM automates the discharge and introduces a “Top-Down” process logic: the clarifier drives the filter press, if installed, triggering a press cycle only when there is sludge to treat. The result is more efficient sludge-line management, with no empty press cycles and lower energy consumption.
LEM reduces the inefficiencies of traditional systems by providing a real-time picture of how much sludge has accumulated in the clarifier cone.
In traditional plants working on bottom-up logic, it is the filter press that drives the treatment cycle. LEM, installed on top of the static clarifier, solves the problem by lowering a sensor into the silo on a controlled-speed reel. As the sensor moves through the fluid, it detects changes in density.

By detecting this difference, the system identifies the level of the sludge–water interface. The software can then calculate the volume of sludge present inside the clarifier.

The sludge discharge valve opens automatically according to specific level thresholds set by the operator.

Designed for installation on static clarifiers, the LEM system combines reliable mechanical components with an intuitive software interface.

Not all sludges behave the same way. LEM's sensitivity can be adjusted from the PLC to suit the characteristics of the sludge.
As well as controlling the discharge, LEM also monitors the sludge level to prevent it from rising too high inside the clarifier. If the level exceeds the safety threshold and could interfere with clarification at the surface, the system triggers a preventive alarm.
