Function:
Filtration aid
The Tecnoidea milk-of-lime preparation and dosing plant is a key unit for chemical sludge conditioning. Where the characteristics of the material prevent effective dewatering, dosing lime chemically destabilises the clay structure and helps release the bound water retained within it. It plays a key role in environmental treatment, where incoming materials vary widely, and is particularly important in quarries processing highly clayey materials. The plant is available in standard, monolithic or compact configurations to suit a wide range of plant layouts.
Chemical conditioning of the sludge
Highly clayey sludges are made up of minerals that tend to retain water. If they are sent to the filter press without preliminary treatment, filtration is ineffective, resulting in poorly formed, low-quality cakes instead of properly dewatered ones.

The plant prepares a milk-of-lime suspension from powdered lime and injects it into the sludge tank before pressing. Acting as a filtration aid, the lime chemically destabilises the clay structure, allowing the trapped water to be released and making the sludge filterable.

Continuous recirculation and dosing of the milk of lime are handled by a rubber-lined abrasion-resistant centrifugal pump.

To ensure effective conditioning, the sludge tank is sized to provide the required reaction time. Tecnoidea also fits the tank with a double-paddle agitator — with offset blades at two different heights — to promote uniform mixing.

Three variants designed to suit different production volumes and space requirements.

Includes a storage silo with a capacity ranging from 30 to 120 m³. The powder is extracted by a rotary valve and a screw conveyor, which feeds a dissolver positioned alongside the silo.
An automatic solution with a minimal footprint, achieved by positioning the dissolver directly beneath the silo. It provides powdered lime storage of up to 65 m³ and can be configured with a rotary valve.
A plant designed for low-throughput applications. It is equipped with a 1 m³ storage silo and an adjacent dissolver of the same capacity (1 m³).
The silo is fitted with an automatic shaking system that uses dried compressed air and fluidising nozzles.
Powder extraction device: Depending on the type of structure and the process requirements, extraction can be configured with a rotary valve, a dosing screw conveyor, or a combined rotary valve and dosing screw conveyor.
