Tecnoidea’s sludge tank is a dynamic process unit designed to receive thickened sludge from the clarifier and prepare it for the filter press. Fitted with agitation systems (mixers), it keeps the sludge continuously mixed, maintaining a uniform, pumpable consistency. From standard configurations through to models with double-paddle agitators for mixing with chemical reagents, we design each tank to act either as a transfer unit or as a reaction tank before the sludge is pumped to the filter press.
The sludge leaving the clarifier needs to be homogenised. The sludge tank prepares it for stable and efficient dewatering.
The tank, usually positioned below or close to the clarifier, receives the thickened sludge discharged from the cone of the silo.

If left unstirred, thickened sludge would settle again at the bottom of the tank, separating from the water and forming deposits that are difficult to remove. The tank is therefore fitted with an agitator that keeps the sludge continuously agitated.

Keeping the sludge homogeneous is essential to ensure that the pump feeds the filter press with material of consistent density.

The tank is fitted with a radar probe that communicates with the plant PLC. This allows the tank control system to interact with the LEM system installed at the top of the clarifier, automatically managing the start and stop of sludge discharge.

We adapt tank sizing and control logic to the specific process requirements of each sector.

The sludge tank acts as a temporary transfer unit for the sludge discharged from the static clarifier, providing the filter press with sludge of consistent density.
In these sectors, or where the sludge has a high clay content, the sludge tank becomes a reaction tank, sized to provide the required contact time for the conditioning agent to act on the material before dewatering. We fit the tank with a special double-paddle agitator to achieve vigorous, uniform mixing of the lime and sludge.
In concrete batching plants, where no clarification unit is installed, the sludge tank becomes a collection tank that receives wash water directly from the concrete mixer trucks.
