The three-chamber flocculant unit is Tecnoidea’s solution for preparing and dosing flocculant in plants with flow rates above 100 m³/h. Unlike single-tank systems, this unit separates the preparation process into three distinct chambers for more efficient reagent dosing. Built entirely in stainless steel, it offers robustness and long-term reliability for industrial applications with high flow rates.

How the three-chamber flocculant unit works

Preparing a flocculant solution from powder requires sufficient hydration time and proper mixing. The three-chamber configuration promotes complete dissolution of the powder and consistent solution quality.

The three-chamber process

The three-chamber tank physically separates the stages. Water and powder enter the first chamber (Preparation). The mixture then passes into the second chamber (Ageing), where it remains for around 40–60 minutes to complete hydration and ageing. Finally, the prepared solution overflows into the third chamber (Dosing), where it is drawn off by the dosing pumps.

Technology and construction

Designed for high-flow-rate applications, where large volumes of flocculant solution are required.

Stainless steel construction

The unit structure, tanks and three-blade agitators are all made of stainless steel.

Powder dosing onto a liquid film

The powder is dosed onto a liquid film by means of an adjustable dosing screw conveyor, with optional screw speed control.

Water supply

The mains water supply system is equipped with a pressure gauge, a Y-strainer, a pressure reducer, a pressure switch, an on/off valve, a manual valve and a flow meter. It also incorporates frost protection, allowing the supply line to be drained completely.

Radar level probe

The system includes a radar level probe for automatic flocculant-solution level control in the tanks, and a dedicated probe for the minimum powder level in the hopper.

Volume scalability

The three-chamber technology is available in several sizes according to the plant's flocculant demand: from the GFA 1700 model (1,700 litres, 2 agitators) to the GFA 8000 model (8,000 litres, 4 agitators).

Standard and optional equipment

Standard equipment

  • Tank divided into three interconnected chambers (Preparation, Ageing, Dosing)
  • Built entirely in stainless steel
  • Stainless steel three-blade agitators (2 to 4 depending on the model’s volume)
  • Water supply system complete with frost protection
  • Radar probe for automatic level control
  • Powder dosing onto a liquid film via adjustable dosing screw conveyor
  • “Plug & Play” configuration with junction box or local control panel

Optional equipment and process configurations

SADF logic integration: The unit is prepared for integration with our SADF automatic flocculant dosing system, which adjusts the flocculant solution dosing according to process requirements.

Screw speed control: A control system for monitoring correct operation of the dosing screw conveyor.
