Durmin Entsorgung und Logistik GmbH is a German company specialising in integrated waste management, environmental logistics and the recycling of materials from the construction, industrial and commercial sectors. Working in densely industrialised areas, the company sorts and processes waste for recovery as secondary raw materials, reducing the amount sent to landfill and returning recycled sand, gravel and aggregates to local production processes. It also provides transport and container-hire services, supporting customers in meeting applicable German environmental requirements.

The semi-mobile plant had to fit within an existing building with only 12 metres of available headroom, and the roof could not be removed.

The system was designed to operate in a particularly dusty environment, with temperature peaks above 40 °C.

Located in the Port of Nuremberg, close to the Danube, the plant had to maintain a stable closed-loop water balance despite limited buffer capacity, avoiding process-water discharge to the nearby river.

To meet the space constraints, all plant equipment and piping were modelled in 3D to identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic and logistical clashes before installation.

With the exception of the silos, the entire plant was engineered in modular form and fully containerised. This enabled pre-assembly in the workshop and provided the semi-mobile configuration required for future relocation.

A filter press was engineered in modular form to reduce the installation footprint, support future relocation and simplify maintenance.
Using non-standard lifting equipment, the plant — designed for a flow rate of 390 m³/h — was installed within the available 12 metres of headroom without removing the building roof.
The closed-loop system avoids process-water discharge to the nearby River Danube.
The treatment process produces spadeable filter cakes with an average dry-solids content of around 80%.
