Founded in 1968 in Telgate, in the province of Bergamo, Marmi Orobici Graniti S.p.A. specialises in processing natural stone, including marble, granite and onyx. The company combines international sourcing of selected stone materials with ongoing process development. Its production processes include multi-wire cutting and finishing operations, which require substantial volumes of process water for diamond-tool cooling and dust suppression. Over time, the company has invested in process efficiency and water management to reduce resource consumption associated with production.

The project challenges

1-100

Treatment standards

Surface-quality requirements for finished slabs require treated water with controlled levels of suspended solids, pH and foam.

2-100

Process chemistry

Resins and chemical additives used in stone processing alter the composition of the process water and require appropriate chemical conditioning.

3-100

Sludge variability

Sludge characteristics vary throughout the day according to the type of stone being processed and the specific production stage.

Tecnoidea’s process-engineering approach

tecnoideaimpianti-layoutimpianto-marmiorobici

Automatic coagulant and flocculant dosing

To manage the effects of resins and chemical additives on process-water characteristics, Tecnoidea engineered and supplied automatic chemical-dosing systems designed to support consistent clarification performance.

Automation

The plant control system was configured to respond automatically to changes in incoming material characteristics during production.

Filter press

A fully equipped filter press was installed and sized for the required sludge-dewatering duty.

Results

Water recovery and surface quality

The plant treats 600 m³/h of process water from the cutting and polishing lines in a closed loop, supporting water reuse while maintaining the water quality required for stone-surface processing.

Industry 4.0 integration

The automation system provides real-time process data to support integrated monitoring and management of the treatment cycle.
