Founded in 1991, Pokarna Limited is an Indian natural-stone producer and exporter with integrated operations covering quarry extraction, cutting, shaping and polishing for the North American, European and Middle Eastern markets. Alongside natural stone, the Group operates Pokarna Engineered Stone Limited, a subsidiary specialising in the production of engineered quartz surfaces.

A custom water-treatment plant had to be integrated with the existing cutting and polishing machinery.

Automated flocculant dosing was required to maintain the water quality needed by the calibrating, honing and polishing machines, with the dose adjusted according to which process machines are operating.

A microfiltration stage was required to enable closed-loop reuse of process water, including at the final polishing heads.

Automated sludge discharge and filter-press cycle control, with digital flow-rate measurement integrated into the plant.

An automatic sand-filtration and microfiltration system was installed to provide water suitable for the polishing machines.

Antifoam dosing supports stable flocculation and clarification where foam is generated by the process.
The plant provides clarified or microfiltered water according to the requirements of the different stone-processing stages.
Chemical dosing is adjusted according to the measured flow rate and the operating status of the stone-processing machines.
The quartzite microfiltration system improves water quality, enabling reuse in the final slab-polishing stages.
The system automates the dewatering and discharge of up to 50 tonnes of filter cake per day.

Tecnoidea supplied advanced wastewater treatment plants for our most modern quartz-slab facility in India. Tecnoidea designed the plant for a high level of precision and reliability — robust and intelligently controlled. We are pleased to have Tecnoidea as a partner in our mission to make our processes efficient, safe and environmentally sustainable.<br />
