Direct filtration without a clarification stage
From the collection tank to the filter press, we design water and sludge treatment plants for the concrete sector. By eliminating the settling stage — to prevent the material from hardening inside the plant — our solutions recover the wash water and rapidly dewater the cement sludge, supporting its direct reuse in the production cycle.
Washing concrete mixer trucks and batching plants generates large volumes of water laden with cement and fine aggregates. The main challenge lies in the nature of the material itself. Cement is a reactive material: if left to settle slowly inside a conventional clarifier, it can set — causing hardening and blockages within the plant.
For this reason, the Tecnoidea solution is based on a simplified process layout: a direct line that keeps the material continuously agitated and then dewaters it as quickly as possible.

The concrete-wastewater treatment process
After an initial removal of the coarse aggregates (using recovery screws or Beton Wash systems), the water laden with cement fines flows into a dedicated collection tank. This tank is fitted with high-capacity agitators that keep the solids continuously suspended, preventing the risk of hardening.

At this stage, the process excludes static settling tanks and flocculant dosing units. Abrasion-resistant centrifugal pumps draw the turbid water directly from the agitated tank and feed it straight into the filter press, with no intermediate treatment stages, reducing idle time and the risk of sedimentation.

Taking advantage of the natural filterability of the cement sludge, the filter press carries out rapid mechanical solid-liquid separation. Compression produces dewatered solid cakes in a short time: a full filtration cycle is completed on average in about 15–30 minutes, supporting continuous batching-plant operation.

The filtrate leaving the filter press is collected and returned by a process pump, ready to be fed back into the production cycle. The dewatered cement cakes discharged from the filter press are also typically reused in casting applications and in the production of non-structural building blocks.

Discover the productFor over 45 years we have designed plants for water treatment and sludge dewatering. In the concrete sector, our choice to eliminate the settling stage lets us treat the cement wastewater while reducing the risk of material solidification in the tanks and subsequent plant blockages.
We design our water and sludge treatment solutions to integrate with the batching plant, recovering the wash water, which is fed back directly as mixing water. In addition, mechanical sludge dewatering recovers the solid fraction as pressed cakes, well suited to producing non-structural building blocks.
Operational continuity is critical in concrete batching plants, which cannot afford downtime caused by an inefficient washing system. Our solutions — from high-pressure abrasion-resistant pumps to continuously agitated tanks — are sized and built to withstand the wear caused by fine aggregates.
